PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Rookie guard Willie Green of Philadelphia is expected to miss up to two months after undergoing surgery Friday to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb.
Green tore his ulnar collateral ligament toward the end of practice Wednesday. Dr. Lee Osterman of the Philadelphia Hand Center performed the operation.
"Everything went well with the surgery this morning," said team physician Dr. Jack McPhilemy. "I anticipate that Willie will regain full function of his right thumb."
The 6-4 Green will be in a cast for about three weeks, then wear a removable splint so he can begin rehabilitation. He has appeared in 15 games this season, averaging 1.9 points in 8.5 minutes.
Green, 22, is the second 76er to undergo hand surgery in as many days. Center Marc Jackson is expected to miss eight weeks after fracturing his left ring finger Tuesday against Toronto.
