COL FB: Florida St 38, Florida 34

GAINESVILLE, Fla., Nov. 29 (UPI) -- P. K. Sam caught a 52-yard TD pass from Chris Rix with 55 seconds left Saturday to lift No. 9 Florida State to a 38-34 victory over No. 11 Florida.

Sam made several dazzling moves on his way to the end zone and forced Gator defensive back Guss Scott out of position before grabbing the ball as he fell past the goal line for the winning score.

Florida had one last chance, but quarterback Chris Leak was tackled at the Florida State 18-yard line as time expired.

Florida State (10-2) celebrated its first 10-win season in four years.

The victory cost Florida (8-4) a chance of playing in the Southeastern Conference title game.

Leak had given the Gators a 34-31 lead with a 25-yard touchdown pass to Ben Troupe with 2:50 left.

Rix had scored on a one-yard run on fourth-down with 9:54 left.
