MOSCOW, Idaho, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- The University of Idaho, which finished 3-9 this season, has decided not to renew the contract of football coach Tom Cable.
Interim athletic director Rob Spear says he hopes the search for a replacement can be found within 10 days.
"The university has decided we need to move in a new direction with the football program," Spear said. "Tom clearly is passionate about the UI and UI football. He has demonstrated that by his dedication to his players and his being a 'team player' within the department."
"It´s time to get on my horse and go coach some fat guys somewhere," Cable said in a radio interview.
Cable had an 11-35 record in four years at the helm. His tenure ended after Saturday's season-ending 20-13 win over Utah State.
The Seattle Times is reporting that former Alabama coach Mike Price, who is living in a temporary home on Lake Coeur d'Alene, has expressed interest in the job but has not been contacted.
IU competes in the Sun Belt Conference.
