
TORONTO, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Mats Sundin snapped a third-period tie with a power-play goal Monday as the Toronto Maple Leafs edged the Vancouver Canucks, 2-1.
When Canucks left wing Matt Cooke bumped into his own defenseman Ed Jovanovski, Sundin picked up the loose puck and released a long slap shot from inside the blue line that beat goaltender Johan Hedberg with a little over two minutes into the final period.
Sundin stretched his point-scoring streak to six games as the Maple Leafs won their third straight at home.
Toronto's Gary Roberts opened the scoring just 24 seconds into the first period. Roberts has scored in three consecutive games and has four over that span.
Brendan Morrison tied it for Vancouver with 3 1/2 minutes left in the first.
