Arizona signs Orosco to one-year contract

PHOENIX, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Jesse Orosco, who has appeared in more games than any other pitcher in major league history, Monday signed a minor league contract with Arizona.

The 46-year-old Orosco, who received an invitation to spring training, joins his 10th team.

Orosco was 2-2 with two saves and a 7.68 ERA in 2003. He began the season with the San Diego, was traded to the New York Yankees in July and then to Minnesota on Sept. 1.

The lefthanded specialist has appeared in 1,252 games career that has spanned four decades. He has a lifetime mark of 87-80 with a 3.16 ERA and 144 saves.

After breaking in with the New York Mets in 1979, Orosco spent time with Los Angeles, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Baltimore and St. Louis. He was an All-Star with the Mets in 1983 and 1984 and saved Game Seven of the 1986 World Series for New York.
