RALEIGH, N.C., Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Nikolai Khabibulin recorded 37 saves Sunday night as the Tampa Bay Lightning skated to a scoreless tie with the Carolina Hurricanes.

Khabibulin was especially strong in overtime, when the Hurricanes outshot the Lightning, 8-1. Carolina finished with a 37-21 edge in shots.

Rod Brind'Amour appeared to score the game-winner for the Hurricanes with 3:38 left in overtime, deflecting a slap shot past Khabibulin. But referee Chris Lee wiped out the goal, ruling that Brind'Amour's stick was above the crossbar.

Khabibulin recorded his 13th shutout with the Lightning, setting a franchise record. It was the second scoreless tie in Tampa Bay history.

Carolina goaltender Kevin Weekes, who finished with 20 saves, was in goal for the Lightning in their other scoreless tie.
