COL FB: Louisville 66, Houston 45

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Lionel Gates set career highs with 140 rushing yards and four touchdowns Saturday, pushing Louisville to a wild 66-45 win over Houston.

Louisville freshman Michael Bush also established personal bests with 137 yards on the ground and two scores.

The Cardinals (8-3, 4-3) tied their modern record with nine touchdowns, most recently accomplished at East Carolina in 1998. Louisville had 14 touchdowns against Washington of Tennessee in 1913.

Stefan LeFors completed 24 of 31 passes for 334 yards and two touchdowns for Louisville, which had 52 carries for 445 yards.

Kevin Kolb went 21 of 27 for 224 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two scores for Houston (6-5, 3-4), which surrendered its most rushing yards in team history.
