COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Marc Denis stopped 25 shots and rookie Dan Fritsche scored his first NHL goal Thursday night as Columbus blanked Detroit, 3-0.
The Blue Jackets ended a five-game home winless streak.
Just 24 hours after a 5-1 loss at Detroit, Denis turned aside 10 shots in the first period, seven in the second and eight in the third for his second shutout of the season and 11th of his six-year career.
Denis also shut out the New York Rangers on Oct. 11.
Fritsche, an 18-year-old center, capped the scoring at 3:11 of the third period as he ripped a shot from the top of the right faceoff circle past the glove of goaltender Manny Legace.
Rick Nash scored in the first period and Andrew Cassels in the second as Columbus defeated Detroit for just the second time in eight tries at Nationwide Arena.
