McAllister rushed for a career-high 173 yards on 28 carries, his seventh straight game over the century mark. He had 124 yards in the fourth quarter and overtime.

Earlier in the overtime, he fumbled as he was caught from behind by cornerback Juran Bolden and the Falcons (2-8) recovered in the end zone.

Atlanta's Jay Feely had a chance to beat the Saints in the Superdome on the last play of the game for the second straight year, but came up well short on a 55-yard field goal.

Carney converted a 26-yarder with five seconds left in regulation to force overtime.

New Orleans (5-5) rallied from a 20-3 halftime deficit, its first double-digit comeback at home since overcoming a 10-point deficit to beat Chicago, 27-24, on Oct. 13, 1996.
