PITTSBURGH, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Lousaka Polite scored with 47 seconds left Saturday as No. 21 Pittsburgh beat No. 5 Virginia Tech, 31-28.

Larry Fitzgerald caught three pases for 49 yards in that final touchdown drive.

Rod Rutherford threw two touchdown passes and ran for another for Pittsburgh (7-2), which overcame a huge game from Tech's Kevin Jones, who ran for a school-record 241 yards and four touchdowns.

Virginia Tech (7-2) thought it was back in the national title chase after it routed Miami last week. But the Hokies were unable to slow down Fitzgerald, who had eight receptions for 108 yards and extended his own NCAA record by catching a TD pass in his 15th straight game.

Jones had an 80-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and a 13-yard TD run early in the fourth to put the Hokies back in front, 28-24.
