COL FB: Ohio State 33, Mich. State 23

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Craig Krenzel threw three touchdowns Saturday afternoon as sixth-ranked Ohio State beat No. 15 Michigan State, 33-23.

The victory moved the Buckeyes into a first-place tie with rival Michigan atop the Big Ten Conference standings.

Krenzel, who suffered a mild concussion at Penn State last week, went 12-of-23 for 213 yards with one interception.

Mike Nugent kicked four field goals and Lydell Ross had 24 carries for 125 yards for the Buckeyes (9-1, 5-1), who host Purdue and visit Michigan the next two weeks.

DeAndra Cobb had a 93-yard kickoff return for a touchdown for the Spartans. The Buckeyes, who have the nation's top rushing defense, limited the Spartans (7-3, 4-2) to five yards on the ground.

Jeff Smoker set career highs in attempts (55) and completions (35) while passing for 351 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions for MSU.
