Vickers wins Busch pole

ROCKINGHAM, N.C., Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Brian Vickers earned the top spot for Saturday's Target House with a lap of 155.037 miles per hour Friday at North Carolina Speedway.

It will be the first time he has started at the front of a Busch race.

His previous career best starting position was second for the race at Lowe's Motor Speedway last month.

Winston Cup rookie Greg Biffle was second fast with a lap at 154.926 mph in a Chevrolet. It was the fourth race in a row he has qualified on the front row and his fifth-straight top-five effort. Biffle holds the Busch Series track qualifying record at Rockingham with a lap at 156.368 mph.

Jeremy Mayfield was third in a Dodge at 154.162 mph, followed by rookie David Stremme's 154.052 mph in a Dodge and David Green's 153.845 mph in a Pontiac.
