NHL: Carolina 6, New York Rangers 3

RALEIGH, N.C., Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Craig Adams tallied twice and Erik Cole added an empty-net goal and two assists Thursday night to give Carolina a 6-3 win over the New York Rangers.

Trying to break a three-game losing streak, Carolina gave up 11 of the first 12 shots and fell behind when Alexei Kovalev scored 9:26 into the opening period.

But Josef Vasicek tied it less than two minutes later with his team-leading seventh goal and rookie Eric Staal put the Hurricanes in front at 15:28 of the period.

Carolina could not hold the lead as Martin Rucinsky scored with 93 seconds to go.

The Hurricanes had four straight power plays to start the second period and, although unable to convert with the extra man, they regained the lead on a goal by Adams.
