HOUSTON, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Vijay Singh and Tiger Woods begin their battle for the PGA Tour money title Thursday in the opening round of the Tour Championship.
Singh will have the advantage at the start of the week as the top two ranked players in the world also contend for the tour's Player of the Year honor.

Even if he wins at Champions Club on Sunday, Woods still will finish behind Vijay Singh on the money list if Singh winds up no worse than third.
"All we can do is control our own destiny," Woods said. "If Vijay wins, he probably should get Player or the Year. If Mike Weir wins, he automatically gets Player of the Year and if Davis Love wins, that puts him at five wins."
Singh and Woods will be paired together for the opening round.
