METAIRIE, La., Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Less than a week after suspending Grady Jackson, the New Orleans Saints on Monday waived the veteran defensive tackle.

The Saints suspended Jackson last Tuesday for conduct detrimental to the team. The club did not disclose the incident that led to Jackson's suspension.

One of the Saints' best run-stoppers, the 6-2, 330-pound Jackson has collected 20 tackles and was second on the team with four sacks in seven games this season.

Jackson, 30, spent his first five years with the Oakland Raiders before signing with the Saints as a free agent in 2002.

Without Jackson, the Saints (4-5) posted a 17-14 victory at Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay on Sunday.
