Browns suspend leading rusher Green

BEREA, Ohio, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- A week after being arrested on charges of drunken driving and marijuana possession, William Green has been suspended by the Cleveland Browns.

Green, the Browns' leading rusher with 559 yards, will miss this weekend's game at Kansas City, Browns Coach Butch Davis announced after Monday's practice.

Green, 23, was arrested last Monday after police pulled him over for driving erratically in his sports utility vehicle. Police said they found a bag of marijuana weighing 3.2 grams in the SUV and Green failed a field sobriety and breath test, which showed he had a blood-alcohol level of .165 - more than twice Ohio's legal limit.

Green, who was twice suspended for marijuana use while at Boston College, has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Cleveland's first-round pick in 2002, Green rushed for 887 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie.
