DENVER, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- The Denver Broncos again will go with Danny Kanell at quarterback Monday night when they host the New England Patriots.
Kanell made his first start since the 2000 season last week against Baltimore and could produce only a pair of field goals in a 26-6 loss. Now he tries to solve the complicated defensive schemes of Patriots coach Bill Belichick, who is getting a lion's share of the credit for a team that has a surprising 6-2 record despite having one of the longest laundry list of injuries in the league.
That list includes Rosevelt Colvin, Ted Johnson, and Ty Law, but the Patriots rank third in the NFL in scoring defense by allowing 16.1 points per game. Belichick's defenses have shut down the likes of Donovan McNabb and Kerry Collins this season.
This marks the ninth straight season that the teams are meeting. Denver has won 12 of the last 14 meetings.
