NHL: Atlanta 2, San Jose 2 (OT)

ATLANTA, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Marco Sturm scored with less than three minutes remaining in regulation Sunday night as San Jose battled Atlanta to a 2-2 tie.

Sturm pounced on a puck that goaltender Pasi Nurminen thought he had controlled in his chest and flipped it in an open net with 2:54 left in the third period.

The equalizer came just over two minutes after Vyacheslav Kozlov gave the Thrashers a 2-1 lead. Kozlov scored his fourth goal on a rebound off the right goalpost, giving him points in five of the last six games.

Kozlov has 13 goals and 11 assists in 37 games against San Jose.

Jeff Cowan had tied it for Atlanta with the only goal of the second period, finishing an excellent triangular passing play. Randy Robitaille fed Serge Aubin on the right wing and Cowan put a diagonal feed past a diving Evgeni Nabokov.
