Hamilton wins Basha's 200

PHOENIX, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Bobby Hamilton Jr. outran raindrops, darkness and to 42 other drivers Saturday to win the NASCAR Busch series Basa's 200 at Phoenix International Raceway.

The race was delayed two hours due to rain and, with darkness approaching, NASCAR officials announced it would be shortened from 200 laps to 190. The field never made it that far, ending nine laps short.

Driving a Ford Taurus, Hamilton defeated Winston Cup star Kevin Harvick under caution for his series-best fourth win of the season. Brian Vickers was third in a Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

Scott Riggs was sixth in a Ford, jumping past David Green into the Busch series lead. Ron Hornaday is 17 points back, four in front of Vickers. Green fell to fourth place but is just 22 points off the pace with two races remaining.

The series moves to North Carolina Speedway in Rockingham for next week's Target House 200.
