NEW YORK, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Houston running back Domanick Davis and Green Bay linebacker Nick Barnett have been named NFL Offensive and Defensive Rookies of the Month for October.

The 5-9, 216-pound Davis, an integral part of the Texans' offense, led all rookies in rushing yards (297) and receptions (23) in three games during the month.

On Oct. 19, he recorded the club's first-ever 100-yard rushing game with 129 against the New York Jets. The following week, he totaled 109 against Indianapolis, becoming the first rookie to rush for 100 yards in his first two starts since Denver's Mike Anderson in 2000.

The fourth-round pick out of LSU has a chance to become the first NFL rookie to gain at least 100 rushing yards in his first three starts when the Texans meet Carolina on Sunday.

Barnett, the Packers' first pick in the 2003 draft, had 31 tackles, one sack, and one pass defensed in three games in October. He also was the only Packer to take part in all 203 defensive snaps.
