Rockets put Griffin on suspended list

HOUSTON, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- The Houston Rockets have placed troubled forward Eddie Griffin on the team's suspended list as they set their opening night roster.

Griffin was suspended indefinitely nearly two weeks ago by Coach Jeff Van Gundy for missing a practice, one day after he was hit with a two-game suspension for skipping a team flight to Sacramento.

Griffin faces more trouble as the NBA regular season is set to begin after being accused of punching a woman in the face at his home this past weekend.

No charges have yet been filed.

In April, he was charged with marijuana possession and is facing a hearing later this month.

Griffin, 21, a former star at Seton Hall, averaged 8.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per contest last season.

Also, the Rockets have placed forward Ben Davis (knee surgery) and guards Adrian Griffin (knee surgery) and Eric Piatkowski (left ankle sprain) on the injured list as they prepare for their season opener Thursday at home against Denver.
