MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Daunte Culpepper was intercepted for the first time this season on Sunday and it led to a 29-17 loss to the New York Giants.
The Vikings suffered their first loss of 2003.
The Giants (3-4) had just gone ahead, 22-17, on a two-yard touchdown run by Tiki Barber when Culpepper was picked off by Frank Walker, a rookie playing in his first game. On third down of the ensuing drive, Kerry Collins hit Ike Hilliard with a 14-yard touchdown pass, Hilliard's second of the game.
Minnesota (6-1) was trying to go 7-0 for the second time in four years. The Vikings won their first seven in 2000, when they lost the NFC championship game to the Giants.
Randy Moss had a pair of touchdown catches in the first half for the Vikings, but aside from his one-yard score in the third quarter, he was a non-factor in the second half.
