NHL: Detroit 4, Dallas 0

DETROIT, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Steve Yzerman scored a pair of goals Friday night to lead Detroit to a franchise-record 15th straight home win, 4-0 over the Dallas Stars.

The Red Wings' long-time captain who missed most of last season following knee surgery, Yzerman increased his team-leading goal total to four. He finished off a pair of passes from Henrik Zetterberg.

Yzerman took a drop pass from his young linemate and beat Marty Turco with a slap shot from the top of the right faceoff circle for a 2-0 lead 4:57 into the second period and redirected a nifty back-door feed 8:36 into the third for a 3-0 advantage.

The Red Wings have won their first four games at Joe Louis Arena this season after capturing their final 11 in 2002-03. They surpassed the club record of 14 straight set during the 1964-65 season.
