MADRID, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Paul Casey had the lead during the second round of the Madrid Open Friday when play was suspended because of darkness.

Casey was at 13-under through 15 holes. He led after the first round following a 63 on Thursday.

One of the clubhouse leaders was Paul Lawrie, who shot a 7-under 64 and was tied at 9-under 133 with Peter Fowler and Stephen Gallacher.

The second round was delayed because of frost on the greens.

Lawrie has not won on the European Tour since the 2002 Wales Open and has struggled this season with groin and neck injuries.

"I now feel the best I have for two or three years." said Lawrie.

Spanish star Sergio Garcia, in second place after Thursday, twice missed from under three feet as he remained 7-under with a 71.
