Bears drop tight end John Davis

Oct. 22, 2003 at 11:35 AM   |   Comments

LAKE FOREST, Ill., Oct. 22 (UPI) -- The Chicago Bears have waived tight end John Davis after he failed his physical.

Davis was placed on the Bears' physically-unable-to-perform list on Aug. 24 because of back and knee injuries. The back injury caused him to miss the final five games last season.

He spent the last two seasons with the Bears and made a career-high 20 catches in 2002 for 193 yards and three touchdowns despite missing six games.

The 6-4, 265-pounder played three years with Tampa Bay and one season with Minnesota before signing with the Bears in 2001.
