Tommie Harris' wife dies

WASHINGTON, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Brian McBride scored two goals, including the overtime winner, as the Columbus Crew kept their postseason dreams alive Sunday with a 3-2 victory over D.C. United.
D.C. defender Mike Petke sent the match into sudden death with his goal in the closing seconds of regulation play.
Columbus (9-12-8, 32 points) must win its final match against the Chicago Fire next week and have United lose at home to Kansas City in order to qualify for the postseason.
United (10-11-8, 38 points) needs only one point to secure their first playoff spot since winning their third MLS Cup title in 1999.
