NEW YORK, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- The New York Yankees, participants in 39 World Series, including six of the last eight, host the Florida Marlins Saturday night to begin the World Series.

The Yankees, who have an unprecedented 26 world championships, will be just 48 hours removed from one of the most dramatic triumphs in the club's illustrious history -- a 5-4 11-- inning win over the Boston Red Sox in Game Seven of the American League Championship Series.

But the Yankees are not the only team arriving at the fall classic riding an emotional high. The Marlins broke the hearts of Chicago Cubs' fans by rallying to win the final three games of the National League Championship Series, advancing to the World Series for the second time in seven years.

Florida won a World Series in 1997, just five years after joining the NL as an expansion team.
