FORT WORTH, Texas, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Lonta Hobbs scored on a 10-yard run as No. 13 Texas Christian overcame the loss of quarterback Tye Gunn Saturday to nip Alabama-Birmingham, 27-24.

TCU (7-0) remained one of five unbeaten teams in Division I-A, but four of those wins have been by three points each.

Nick Browne kicked four field goals for the Horned Frogs, who have won nine straight games, tying Oklahoma for the longest current run in the nation.

UAB (3-4) took a 17-16 lead early in the third quarter on an eight-yard TD run by quarterback Darrell Hackney and increased its advantage to 24-16 on a nine-yard TD run by Trey Chaney with 8:23 left in the third.

The Horned Frogs cut the deficit to five points on a 49-yard field goal by Browne later in the third and went ahead to stay on Hobb's TD run.
