COL FB: Miami (Fla.) 52, Temple 14

CORAL GABLES, Fla., Oct. 18 (UPI) -- D.J. Williams scored on a 61-yard run out of punt formation to help propel second-ranked Miami to a 52-14 rout of Temple.

Also in the win, Jarrett Payton and freshman Tyrone Moss each ran for over 100 yards in the Hurricanes' 12th straight victory over the Owls.

Temple (1-6, 0-2 Big East) recorded its only win this season over Division I-AA Middle Tennessee State, but was within 10 points of the Hurricanes early in the third quarter before Williams' touchdown.

Brock Berlin threw a three-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Everett, and Jason Geathers added a two-yard scoring run to make it 45-14 after three quarters.

Miami (7-0, 2-0), which beat Florida State last Saturday, will have a week off before facing third-ranked and unbeaten Virginia Tech on Nov. 1.

Payton carried 16 times for 115 yards, including touchdown runs of eight and 14 yards in the first quarter. Moss carried 15 times for 135 yards and had a nine-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter.
