NFL: New Orleans 20, Chicago 13

NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- Aaron Brooks threw a pair of touchdown passes Sunday afternoon to help New Orleans turn back the Chicago Bears, 20-13.

The Saints scored 10 points off a pair of fumbles by Chicago quarterback Kordell Stewart as New Orleans ended a three-game skid.

The constantly harassed Stewart was sacked three times and lost fumbles twice on consecutive possessions that bookended each half and led to points for New Orleans. His first miscue came when he was sacked by Charles Grant and fellow defensive end Willie Whitehead recovered the fumble to set up a 30-yard field goal by John Carney for a 6-3 halftime edge.

The second came when he was tackled by cornerback Fred Thomas, and lost control of the ball. Rookie defensive end Melvin Williams pounced on it at the Bears' 12-yard-line.

Three plays later, Brooks found tight end Ernie Conwell for a nine-yard touchdown and a 13-3 New Orleans advantage.

Deuce McAllister carried 29 times for 116 yards to lead the Saints. It was his third straight 100-yard effort.
