NEW YORK, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- The New York Yankees hope it's Andy Pettitte to the rescue again Thursday night against Boston.
Last week, after the Yankees lost Game One to Minnesota in the American League Division Series, Pettitte gave up just one hit and four runs in seven innings. He is being asked to do the same thing against the Red Sox after losing Game One of the championship series, 5-2, on Wednesday.
Pettitte know he has a tall order.
"They have got a great lineup and you know that, if you make bad pitches to them they are going to hurt you up and down," said Pettitte, who went 3-1 with a 5.04 ERA against the Red Sox in the regular season.
The Red Sox will counter with Derek Lowe, who posted a 0.93 ERA in three appearances in Boston's five-game victory over Oakland.
The NLCS has a travel date for Florida and the Chicago Cubs, with the series tied at one game apiece with Game Three Friday at Miami.
