LAS VEGAS, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Scott Verplank shot a 10-under 62 Thursday that tied him for the lead with Steve Flesch after two rounds of the Las Vegas Invitational.
Verplank played at the TPC-Summerlin course, one of three used for this pro-am tournament, and finished 36 holes at 17-under 126. Flesch reached the same total with a 64 at TPC-Canyons.
Alone in third at 128 was Charles Howell III after a 65 while Tim Herron, Craig Barlow and Steve Lowery were all at 129.
Those at 130 included Stuart Appleby and Rich Beem.
Verplank, 39, has finished fourth twice this season and has missed only three cuts in 23 starts. But he has not won in more than two years.
"When you get as old as I am, you get worn out," Verplank said. "Then your attitude gets a little sour. I've tried to rectify that this week."
