DeJuan Wagner needs more knee surgery

CLEVELAND, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Guard DeJuan Wagner of the Cleveland Cavaliers needs more arthroscopic surgery on his aching right knee.

General Manager Jim Paxson says Wagner will undergo the procedure on Tuesday.

Because of swelling in the knee after the first day of training camp, Wagner was held out of practices last week, and did not accompany the team on its current preseason road trip to Detroit and Asheville, N.C. He has torn the meniscus in the knee twice since March, according to the Akron Beacon-Journal.

The paper said the need for another arthroscope was determined after an examination by noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews.

"We're not sure how long he'll be out,'' Paxson told the paper. "It will depend on what they find when they go in. The tear is close to where he injured it before."

During his rookie campaign last season, Wagner, who went to Memphis for one year, averaged 13.4 points and 2.8 assists per game. He missed the last 20 contests after injuring the knee the first time.
