The Bulldogs (4-1) have beaten the Crimson Tide (2-4) in consecutive meetings for the first time since 1955-56.

Alabama has lost three in a row and already has exceeded last season's loss total. It allowed 37 points in the first half, its worst opening 30 minutes since the advent of the modern era in 1933.

When the game ended, redshirt freshman Brandan Avalos was taking snaps while Croyle and backup Spencer Pennington were on the sidelines, each with one arm in a sling.
