Knee surgery for Adam Everett

HOUSTON, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Shortstop Adam Everett of the Houston Astros underwent knee surgery Wednesday morning to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee.

The surgery was performed by team medical director Dr. David Lintner at The Methodist Hospital in Houston. Recovery time for the surgery is approximately four weeks.

Everett, 26, is expected to be ready for the start of spring training.

He played in 128 games for the Astros this season, hitting .256 with eight homers and 51 RBI, and helped the Astros end the season with the fourth-best fielding percentage in the National League.
