Moreau was paid $1.45 million last season, when he established career highs with 17 assists and 31 points in 74 games and won the team's Unsung Hero Award.

"Ethan is coming off a solid season and has been a big part of our organization for the past five years," said General Manager Kevin Lowe. "We are very excited to have him under contract for the next four years, and believe his leadership and determination are qualities which are vital to our hockey club."

Moreau, 28, was a 1994 first-round draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks, who traded him to Edmonton in March 1999.
