DENVER, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Jim Harrick, who resigned as Georgia basketball coach six months ago, Monday was named a scout and coaching consultant by the Denver Nuggets.
The Nuggets also named Scott Brooks assistant coach and Adrian Dantley and Chip Engelland assistant coaches for player development. They re-signed forward Chris Andersen, who averaged 5.2 points and 4.6 rebounds in 59 games last season.
Harrick stepped down at Georgia and announced his retirement from coaching on March 28, less than three weeks after an academic scandal shamed Georgia into withdrawing from postseason play.
One of only two coaches to take four schools to the NCAA Tournament, Harrick was suspended by the school on March 10 amid allegations of academic fraud and improper benefits.
Harrick won a national championship in 1995 at UCLA.
