SAN ANTONIO, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Tommy Armour III birdied the last three holes of Saturday's third round to finish off a 7-under-par 63 at the Valero Texas Open.

His third round of 64 or better has him at 21-under 189 and a six-shot lead over second-place Duffy Waldorf.

Armour tied Mark Calcavecchia's PGA Tour record-setting 54-hole total of 189 at the 2001 Phoenix Open. He also set the PGA Tour mark in relation to par at 21-under, breaking the 18-under total shared by Tiger Woods at the 2000 WGC-NEC Invitional and Bob Gilder at the 1982 Manufacturers Hanover Westchester Classic.

Waldorf fired a 8-under 62, the best round of the day. He is two shots better than Bob Tway (67), Glen Hnatiuk (64), Paul Goydos (68) and Dan Forsman (70).

Arron Oberholser (66), Stewart Cink (67), Hal Sutton (69) and K.J. Choi (69) are 198.
