Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Gary Murphy, Simon Yates and Soren Hansen all shot 66 Thursday to share the first round lead at the Dunhill Links Championship.
Darren Clarke, vying for the European Tour's money title, was a shot off the lead in the celebrity, pro-am event.
Ernie Els, who leads Clarke by 350,000 Europs in the money chase, could manage only a 72.
Murphy, finally establishing himself on the European Tour at the age of 30, played at Carnoustie, the toughest of the three courses being used for the tournament.
Yates and Hansen both played at St. Andrews while the best scores at Kingsbarns were the 68s of Englishman Simon Dyson and Maarten Lafeber of the Netherlands.
