Georgia safety Curry out for season

ATHENS, Ga., Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Georgia safety Kentrell Curry is expected to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

Curry, a senior, played sparingly in Saturday's loss to Louisiana State after missing the first three games due to a calcium deposit between the bones in his right knee. Georgia Coach Mark Richt said Tuesday the ailment has not responded to treatment "or anything else."

"It's been a very irritating, nagging, painful deal," added Richt, who said Curry will undergo surgery.

Curry's absence is a blow to a team that is ranked 12th and plays among the most difficult schedules in the country as a member of the Southeastern Conference.

Curry started all 14 games last season and recorded a team-high four interceptions. The Toccoa, Ga., native was a backup in his first two years with the Bulldogs.
