JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Veteran Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Mark Brunell has an elbow injury that makes him questionable for Sunday's game at Houston.
Brunell needed stitches for the injury on Monday. He was hurt in Sunday's 23-13 loss to Indianapolis.
Coach Jack Del Rio called it "significant."
"We had to put some stitches in there, and we'll have to see where he is in the next couple of days," Del Rio told reporters.
The team will release its official injury report on Wednesday, but when pressed on the subject of whether or not prized rookie Byron Leftwich would make his first pro start this week, he said that decision would be made on Sunday, but that Brunell will play if he is healthy.
Brunell was 12-of-23 for 90 yards before being replaced by Leftwich against the Colts.
"I've got three quarterbacks who are capable of starting in this league," Del Rio said.
The third quarterback is second-year player David Garrard.
