Boston 6, Baltimore 5 (10 innings)

BOSTON, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Todd Walker hit a two-out, three-run homer in the ninth inning and David Ortiz hit a shot in the 10th Tuesday as Boston nipped Baltimore, 6-5.

Walker hit a 3-2 pitch from Jorge Julio over the right field wall to tie the game at 5-5. It was the 12th homer of the season for Walker, who became the eighth player on the team to reach 80 RBI -- a club record.

Ortiz greeted Kurt Ainsworth (0-1) with a leadoff homer. He has 29 homers and 98 RBI in his first year with Boston.

Walker and Ortiz drove in all six runs for the Red Sox, who began the night 2 1/2 games ahead of Seattle for the American League wild card. They have won 22 of their last 31 games.

Byung-Hyun Kim (8-5) pitched a scoreless 10th for the win.
