TORONTO, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Rob Bell carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning Monday as Tampa Bay snapped a four-game losing streak with a 5-2 triumph over Toronto.
Bell held Toronto hitless through six innings. But Vernon Wells led off the seventh with his major league-leading 211th hit of the season and came around to score Toronto's first run on a double by Bobby Kielty.
Bell (5-4) allowed a run and two hits in 6 2/3 innings.
Reed Johnson drove in Toronto's other run with an RBI single in the eighth inning to extend his Blue Jays rookie record hitting streak to 19 games.
Roy Halladay (21-7) had a nightmare inning in the sixth. Julio Lugo led off with a homer to make it 1-0 and Aubrey Huff followed with a single. Halladay hit Rocco Baldelli in the back with a pitch and was ejected by plate umpire Phil Cuzzi.
