A 50-year-old rookie on the elder circuit, Weibring fell two strokes behind when he bogeyed the 16th hole. But he tied for the lead with an eagle at the par-5 17th and grabbed it for himself with a birdie at the 18th.

The closing birdie put Weibring a stroke ahead of Kite, who blitzed the course record by four strokes with a bogey-free 61. He began the day in a tie for 34th and birdied seven of the last eight holes.
