New England 23, N.Y. Jets 16

FOXBORO, Mass., Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Asante Samuel returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown to help Sunday as New England beat the New York Jets, 23-16.

The Patriots had lost their last five home games against the Jets. They played without starting linebackers Roosevelt Colvin and Ted Johnson, and lost cornerback Ty Law to a right knee injury in the second quarter. They were able to keep the Jets at bay.
