NEW ORLEANS, N.Y., Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Wil Cordero homered and ignited a three-run ninth inning with an RBI double as Montreal completed a four-game sweep of the New York Mets with a 4-2 victory.

Cordero's 16th home run of the season was a solo shot off Mets starter Jae Seo that snapped a scoreless seventh-inning tie.

Marco Scutaro had an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth, but the Mets' rally came up short with the bases loaded when rookie Jeff Duncan stuck out for the third time and Jay Bell flied out to end the game.

Expos starter Tomo Ohka allowed one unearned run and four hits in seven innings, with one walk and six strikeouts. Rookie Luis Ayala (10-3) gained the win after tossing a scoreless eighth, and closer Rocky Biddle notched his 33rd save in 40 opportunities.

Montreal recorded its fourth four-game sweep of the season.

New York lost its eighth straight game, and has dropped 16 of its last 17 contests.
