Anaheim 2, Seattle 1

SEATTLE, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Ryan Franklin pitched seven scoreless innings Sunday but gave up a pair of runs in the eighth to deal the Seattle Mariners a 2-1 loss to the Anaheim Angels.

The Mariners had a four-game winning streak snapped and wasted an opportunity to move past Boston in the American League wild card chase. They remained one-half game back and fell three games behind first-place Oakland in the American League West.
