DETROIT, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Jamey Wright pitched a seven-hitter and Carlos Beltran had three hits and three RBI Saturday as Kansas City chalked up a 7-0 victory over the Detroit Tigers.

Nine days after having his contract purchased from Class AAA Omaha, Wright (1-1) pitched his third career shutout and sixth complete game. He also went the distance last Saturday at Anaheim,

Wright is the 11th different starting pitcher used by the Royals since Aug. 5. The righthander helped Kansas City remain 3 1/2 games behind the Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins, who are tied for first place in the American League Central Division.

Beltran capped his 18th three-hit game of the season with a two-run homer over the Tigers' bullpen in right in the ninth.

Detroit's Chris Mears (0-3) made his third career start and was tagged for four runs in 4 1/3 innings.
