Griffin has minor knee surgery

HOUSTON, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Guard/forward Adrian Griffin of the Houston Rockets has undergone successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.

Griffin suffered a minor injury during offseason workouts in Dallas. He is expected to begin rehabilitation immediately and join the Rockets in training camp, which starts Oct. 2.

"He started swelling, so we looked at it to see what we were dealing with," General Manager Carroll Dawson told the Houston Chronicle. "It was an injury, but he doesn't remember bumping knees with anyone and doesn't really know how it happened. We were holding our breath until they went in there, saw what it was, and took out some particles."

The 6-5 Griffin signed with the Rockets as a free agent on Aug. 7 after spending the last two seasons with the Dallas Mavericks. He averaged 4.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.04 steals in 74 games last season, including 48 starts.

In four years in the NBA, he has averages of 5.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.15 steals per game.
