Morgan continues pursuit of first 2003 win

MAINEVILLE, Ohio, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Gil Morgan shot a 5-under-par 67 Saturday and doubled his lead after two rounds of the $1.5 million Kroger Classic.

Morgan, who has not won on the Champions Tour in over a year, moved to 12-under 132 after two trips over the TPC at River's Bend course. He stretched his lead to two strokes over Doug Tewell, who moved into second place at 134 following a 66.

The doctor of optometry is third on the money list with 11 top-10 finishes in 20 starts, including four second-place performances. But Morgan has been unable to break into the win column since the BellSouth Senior Classic in June 2002, the last of his 21 victories on the elder circuit.

Graham Marsh also shot 67 and is alone in third at 9-under 135, one stroke better than Larry Nelson, who slipped from a tie for second with 70.
